How does a cold plate work in a soda fountain system?

 The cold plate is a vital part of the soda system. It can be found in a variety of styles depending on the type of dispenser. Its main purpose is to allow product that is dispensed to be cooled. The cooling of the product does two things that are necessary to have a quality beverage:

 

  1. By cooling the soda water, it allows the CO2 gas to stay in the soda water longer (better product, more carbonation/fizz)
  2. The colder the product gets before dispensing, the slower the ice melts in the cup, preventing dilution
